All about me...Hummm in a nutshell!

This tagging really taxes my brain!

5 Things I was doing 10 years ago.. 5 things... Hummmm. Woooza
1. Well, the one thing I know is I'm too old to remember clearly back that far..Old age but I'll guess!
2. I think that's when we all went to visit Shauna in College(BYU Hawaii) and lounged on the beach. I do love the sun..
3. Joel was finishing up his Mission in Anaheim Calif. or maybe he was home and off to
Rick's College.
4. I worked in a Podiatry office and learned to like and enjoy OLD people.(That were patients)

5. Trying to figure out life and be a good Mom and wife (hummm or not)

5 Things on my to do list today...
1. Make fudge for the weekend
2. Wrap presents and fight the line at the Post Office
3. Wash and bleach all the dingy church tablecloths
4. Clean entire house in preparation for the Party this weekend!!!
5. Motivate myself to go to Balley's

5 Snacks I enjoy
1. Ice cream----any kind, but not cheap ice milk kind..
2. Yogurt with frozen berries
3. Fresh strawberries, blueberries, raspberries.. maybe anything fresh--kiwi, grapes- -yeah all of it. love fruit
4. Licorice--probably black
5. My latest is roasted almonds from Costco!!

5 Things I would do if I were a billionaire
1. Add to the church a bit and pay 10% tithing...maybe a bonus. LOL
2. Find a cure for Ovarian Cancer
3. Build a cabin high in the Mountains in Midway. Ski in the winter..fish, hike and play in the summer.
4. Help people in need
5. Invest the rest so we could retire, help our kids in need and relax and enjoy life.

5 Bad Habits
1. I always set my bedroom clock 10 mins. fast. I know this and so I hit snooze for the next 25 minutes. It drives my husband nutz.
2. Skipping Sunday School class and talking to my young friends in the hallway.
3. Thinking the phone only rings one way... By not calling my parents, brother, kids, friends....etc.
4. Dwelling on the things I can't change instead of living life to the fullest
5. I have a rigid routine in the AM. Don't talk to me until after my shower, hair and makeup are done . No matter where I'm at this has to be my "anal" routine. My girls know this and accommodate me well. They don't want to see the mother bear come alive in bear mode!

5 Places I have lived
1. Washington
2. Logan then Provo
3. San Francisco
4. Yelm
5. Portland

5 Jobs that I have had...
1. Picked beans and berries in Puyallup
2. Worked at a cannery on the tide flats
3. Pharmacy Tech and delivery girl
4. Domestic Engineer
5. A GRANDMA-That's the best!!!

5 Things you may not know about me...
1. Each Day I still think about my sister and miss her more than anyone could ever imagine. I have some crazy little superstitions that seem so real. Before she died she said she would always be with me no matter what, but I would have to figure out how to recognize her spirit. I have a Special rose garden dedicated to her since most of the roses are hers. I was feeling kinda down on Monday and was walking to get the mail and almost stopped dead in my steps. Her favorite rose bush is a yellow one. That rose bush had one new beautiful blooming rose! It's winter, it's cold and my roses have already been semi trimmed... but their sat the most beautiful rose ever! Superstition....hummmmm I'd like to call it an angel from heaven is still in my life. The next day I found a penny in the street which is a angel sprinkling blessings from above. Call it what you want but I know I'm protected from above. NEXT DAY....... Since I'm slow at finishing this game.. I have a little addition. Today, a day later I just walked out to get the paper. I now have 5 more roses about to bloom. Crazy or Angels????
2. Because I'm protected from above.....life is great!
3. I snore.. So Rick says, but I haven't woke myself up yet like he does when he snores!!!
4. I love to listen to music during the day....actually anytime. I don't much like a quiet house. That must go back to the days of raising the 5.
5. I wear socks to bed... Maybe nothing else but always socks!!

Now I tag five people....Diana, Emily, and any other YSA Friends of mine!

Where's the Sunshine!!!

Our great sunny 8 days in Cancun has come and gone and now we have great pictures and a great TAN to get us through the rainy weather!!! What a great vacation....Thank You Ross and Jen for hanging out with us oldies...It was really fun.

Thanksgiving Dinner Travels to Washington!

That's right....We loaded the entire car with our Thanksgiving Dinner and headed up to Brooke's in Puyallup. It was so fun and crazy and a great time putting everyone to work as we complied our Thanksgiving Dinner. Joel, Mandy and the 2 Gig Harbor cuties came along with Grandma Barbara and Brooke, Jason and the other 2 Puyallup cuties... The pictures will tell the fun of the day!

Game Night at the Garlocks.......

Christmas in October....

Pretty crazy this year... We pulled out all the stops and broke all the Christmas Traditional RULES..... I was almost decorated by Halloween! CRAZY I KNOW!!! Between Baby Hailey on her way, Thanksgiving, a trip coming up and surgery in December I got started early and decided to almost finish.. Everything except the live tree! I've already had to replace fir bows and the candy canes I've eaten. Christmas music has been blasting the house sine Nov. 1st and I can't think of better decoration to have out for so long. It has really given us the chance to focus on our Savior and his birth. I love Manger Scenes and our pictures just don't do just to their beauty. Happy Halloween, Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas to all!!

Baby Hailey has arrived!!

Once Brooke was induced and things got rolling Baby Hailey came pretty quick into the world on Tuesday at 2:26ishPM. She weighed 7lbs 10oz. and is 20 inches long. She's adorable with dark dark hair and a lot of it! Brooke said if every delivery was this easy she'd have 10. LOL.. I'm sure that will change. Life is pretty busy here at Brooke's with Tay Tay , Brooke and Baby Hailey. Soon I'll find time to post some very cute pictures of them. If you can't wait, go to proud Aunt Mandy's blog and watch the show.. (Click on JAM from my web page)

The question of the Morning ??

HOW FAST CAN WE GET OUR SATURDAY WORK DONE???
It's another beautiful fall day.. A day that shouldn't be all work and no play... We've decided that it's really not God's plan to work work work and no playing!! Well, maybe that's just our plan in life.. LOL... but we're pretty sure we need to balance our work and our play, with the emphasis on play today! Work hard in the morning and head to the Mountain and River to enjoy a little bit of nature in the afternoon !! This idea sounded great and so we were determined to get started early and work hard and fast!
We had a great day.. As you can see the work got done and we enjoyed the afternoon outdoors. What a beautiful time of year.. One that needs to be enjoyed..

Baby or Not???

And will she ever come?? This has been the question Brooke's been asking for days! The Doctor says any day....she looks like any day but I think baby Hailey says "hummmm... I'm going to make you all wait awhile cuz I'm pretty darn comfy in here".... Brooke and I started out the day on Monday pretty determined for her to have Baby Hailey that Night. Taylor and I finished the bumper pads and crib skirt..We walked the entire strip of Ruston Way and the Tacoma Mall.. Brooke cooked up some spicy foods and topped it off with a huge bottle of prune juice and about 10+ prunes!.. She walked her stairs until she was dizzy and then did a ton of squats while she ate more prunes.. Mandy suggested Black Cohash so off we went to the store for that. That night things kicked in gear a little and off to the hospital we headed but only to be sent home some 5 hours later... Brooke was definitely having consistent contractions, and then they sent her walking the stairs and then more walking. Around 12:30 AM, like in the middle of the night...they said her contractions weren't doing much and to go home!!! Well, she's home and now I'm home in Portland. Baby will probably come today since I just got home. LOL. Brooke went to work today and she's still asking the question??? "WILL THIS BABY EVER COME"

We'd rather be Camping, hiking,or............

almost anything other than working on a beautiful fall day! Saturday Morning we got an early start and off we went to Home Depot. We were pretty sure we could have this roof replaced by noon and then off to the river for a picnic and maybe a little bike riding or hiking. After all it's only a bumpy fiberglass-- corrugated roof of some sort??? We thought we had a perfect plan! Well, we all know what happens to perfect plans.. Our perfect plan on Saturday tells it's own story by the pictures and the times on them. I know all you builders out there could have easily been done by noon and off to the River.....but oh no... not us. We consider ourselves "cheap labor" but oh are we ever so slow!!! But our roof no longer leaks and all the junk is back in place. The next sunny fall day it desperately needs PAINT!! My JOB...and Rick can go to the river!

All in the Day and the Life of a "Domestic Engineer"

Yep... That's me. Sounds pretty good huh! I came up with my new title when I was continually filling out paper work at the Doctor's Office and Hospital! I got tired of putting "nothing" or "mother" or "housewife" or "house-rat" (yeah I used that once) or "retired" or "wife" or "Grandma " ...and the list could go on as life went on.. As I look back on my life at all the titles I've had, most of them have been great! Especially the "Mom" and "Grandma" one. I'm so grateful I was able to be a stay home Mom and enjoy every crazy moment of my kids life's.. In this day and age Mom's aren't staying home with their little ones for various reasons. Well, now that all my kids are raised and I'm a grandma, I still use the excuse that I'm a mom and grandma for staying home...LOL.. Actually some may think I'm lazy and wonder what on earth I could possibly do every day to stay busy. Today I decided to take a few pictures of what my day entailed . It's really no different day to day just a different project, list, visit, or a new "honey do list"!.... Yes, I do things for my honey since he's the one that works. I've decided that each day is too short and passes by way too quickly! I once heard this little thought..... When you worry and hurry through your day, it is like an unopened gift.. Thrown away! Life is not a race. We need to take it slower. Hear the music before the song is over. "Life may not always be the party we hoped for....but while we are here we might as well dance!". My life seems to have a way of accelerating as I get older. My days are too short, and my list of to do's and promises gets longer and longer. I'm learning to enjoy each day and if the list is left undone at the end of the day it's OK............ Because I have enjoyed the day!

It takes a Village!

Sometimes it takes a village to make things happen. A "Village" just happens to be our Young Single Adult Ward. In our Ward we have 2 girls that are in wheelchairs that wanted to be apart of our Conference morning at our house. Rick pulled out all his creative tricks and great imagination trying to figure out a way to get her 500+ pound wheelchair up our stairs. That's where the village comes in, along with some ingenuity, muscles, and a lot of faith and trust on Kristine's part who has the heavier wheelchair. Sunday morning arrived, the ramp was basically cut and constructed and we were ready for her arrival!! We all cheered and clapped as she drove her wheelchair up the 2 board ramp and then across another board resembling a teeter tarter.. Where there's a will, there's a way as long as you have a village along to help. Heather, the other girl in a wheelchair was just picked up out of her chair and carried in the house. Piece of cake@!! I love having them all over on Conference Sunday for Breakfast and then they stay for the day watching both sessions of conference! We're not talking just a few kids, we're talking somewhere around 40ish+. They grab a plate, load it up with yummy breakfast casserole, pancakes made by the professional pancake flipper-Rick, pile on the fresh fruit, pour a glass of orange juice or milk and head off to find their favor TV spot. Those spots vary anywhere from downstairs, 2 TVs on the main floor and the coveted area up in the apartment. The blankets come out, because they all know that the "Garlocks" don't turn on their heat, although we actually turned our heat on just for them but the blankets still came out everywhere. Our house resembled one big sleepover! Conference was incredible with warm and touching messages that we were able to enjoy with our very own Ward Village! What a blessing they are in our life at this time with so many of our own children so faraway.

Circus ~ Circus

And we aren't talking about the casino in Las Vegas. :) I'm telling you when I stay at the Watson house there is usually a party around every corner. It was so fun to see the expression on the children's faces as well as listen to my parents talk with endless excitement all the way home about the circus. I would be crazy if I left out sneaking to the snack bar for junk with Kisser at half time. If Shauna caught us eating hot dogs and churros she would have told us how many calories are in every bit. :) Another fun adventure. I'm so grateful to be creating memory after memory.

86 Years Young!

Happy Happy Birthday Grandpa Dear! Nothing beats an ice cream Birthday Party time with the man himself. If you asked the man in charge he would say that we can't leave out partying with one super daughter (that's me), grand kids and great grand kids!!! Grandpa KC may be old in age, but he is big big in spirit. Everyone enjoyed watching Grandpa KC constantly raze the little ones with the smirk of all smirks on his face. He was delighted. We were delighted! We ate ice cream, so the grand kids were delighted. I can't emphasize to those that live out of the state of Utah how great he looks, how much he is with it, it feels like my dad is back to being himself. Loved seeing him and Grandma Lettie! Happy 86 Dad!
