The question of the Morning ??

HOW FAST CAN WE GET OUR SATURDAY WORK DONE???
It's another beautiful fall day.. A day that shouldn't be all work and no play... We've decided that it's really not God's plan to work work work and no playing!! Well, maybe that's just our plan in life.. LOL... but we're pretty sure we need to balance our work and our play, with the emphasis on play today! Work hard in the morning and head to the Mountain and River to enjoy a little bit of nature in the afternoon !! This idea sounded great and so we were determined to get started early and work hard and fast!
We had a great day.. As you can see the work got done and we enjoyed the afternoon outdoors. What a beautiful time of year.. One that needs to be enjoyed..

Baby or Not???

And will she ever come?? This has been the question Brooke's been asking for days! The Doctor says any day....she looks like any day but I think baby Hailey says "hummmm... I'm going to make you all wait awhile cuz I'm pretty darn comfy in here".... Brooke and I started out the day on Monday pretty determined for her to have Baby Hailey that Night. Taylor and I finished the bumper pads and crib skirt..We walked the entire strip of Ruston Way and the Tacoma Mall.. Brooke cooked up some spicy foods and topped it off with a huge bottle of prune juice and about 10+ prunes!.. She walked her stairs until she was dizzy and then did a ton of squats while she ate more prunes.. Mandy suggested Black Cohash so off we went to the store for that. That night things kicked in gear a little and off to the hospital we headed but only to be sent home some 5 hours later... Brooke was definitely having consistent contractions, and then they sent her walking the stairs and then more walking. Around 12:30 AM, like in the middle of the night...they said her contractions weren't doing much and to go home!!! Well, she's home and now I'm home in Portland. Baby will probably come today since I just got home. LOL. Brooke went to work today and she's still asking the question??? "WILL THIS BABY EVER COME"

We'd rather be Camping, hiking,or............

almost anything other than working on a beautiful fall day! Saturday Morning we got an early start and off we went to Home Depot. We were pretty sure we could have this roof replaced by noon and then off to the river for a picnic and maybe a little bike riding or hiking. After all it's only a bumpy fiberglass-- corrugated roof of some sort??? We thought we had a perfect plan! Well, we all know what happens to perfect plans.. Our perfect plan on Saturday tells it's own story by the pictures and the times on them. I know all you builders out there could have easily been done by noon and off to the River.....but oh no... not us. We consider ourselves "cheap labor" but oh are we ever so slow!!! But our roof no longer leaks and all the junk is back in place. The next sunny fall day it desperately needs PAINT!! My JOB...and Rick can go to the river!

All in the Day and the Life of a "Domestic Engineer"

Yep... That's me. Sounds pretty good huh! I came up with my new title when I was continually filling out paper work at the Doctor's Office and Hospital! I got tired of putting "nothing" or "mother" or "housewife" or "house-rat" (yeah I used that once) or "retired" or "wife" or "Grandma " ...and the list could go on as life went on.. As I look back on my life at all the titles I've had, most of them have been great! Especially the "Mom" and "Grandma" one. I'm so grateful I was able to be a stay home Mom and enjoy every crazy moment of my kids life's.. In this day and age Mom's aren't staying home with their little ones for various reasons. Well, now that all my kids are raised and I'm a grandma, I still use the excuse that I'm a mom and grandma for staying home...LOL.. Actually some may think I'm lazy and wonder what on earth I could possibly do every day to stay busy. Today I decided to take a few pictures of what my day entailed . It's really no different day to day just a different project, list, visit, or a new "honey do list"!.... Yes, I do things for my honey since he's the one that works. I've decided that each day is too short and passes by way too quickly! I once heard this little thought..... When you worry and hurry through your day, it is like an unopened gift.. Thrown away! Life is not a race. We need to take it slower. Hear the music before the song is over. "Life may not always be the party we hoped for....but while we are here we might as well dance!". My life seems to have a way of accelerating as I get older. My days are too short, and my list of to do's and promises gets longer and longer. I'm learning to enjoy each day and if the list is left undone at the end of the day it's OK............ Because I have enjoyed the day!

It takes a Village!

Sometimes it takes a village to make things happen. A "Village" just happens to be our Young Single Adult Ward. In our Ward we have 2 girls that are in wheelchairs that wanted to be apart of our Conference morning at our house. Rick pulled out all his creative tricks and great imagination trying to figure out a way to get her 500+ pound wheelchair up our stairs. That's where the village comes in, along with some ingenuity, muscles, and a lot of faith and trust on Kristine's part who has the heavier wheelchair. Sunday morning arrived, the ramp was basically cut and constructed and we were ready for her arrival!! We all cheered and clapped as she drove her wheelchair up the 2 board ramp and then across another board resembling a teeter tarter.. Where there's a will, there's a way as long as you have a village along to help. Heather, the other girl in a wheelchair was just picked up out of her chair and carried in the house. Piece of cake@!! I love having them all over on Conference Sunday for Breakfast and then they stay for the day watching both sessions of conference! We're not talking just a few kids, we're talking somewhere around 40ish+. They grab a plate, load it up with yummy breakfast casserole, pancakes made by the professional pancake flipper-Rick, pile on the fresh fruit, pour a glass of orange juice or milk and head off to find their favor TV spot. Those spots vary anywhere from downstairs, 2 TVs on the main floor and the coveted area up in the apartment. The blankets come out, because they all know that the "Garlocks" don't turn on their heat, although we actually turned our heat on just for them but the blankets still came out everywhere. Our house resembled one big sleepover! Conference was incredible with warm and touching messages that we were able to enjoy with our very own Ward Village! What a blessing they are in our life at this time with so many of our own children so faraway.
